Storage Planning

Rule of thumb to estimate usable space:


  • One MTR of bagged goods requires approx. 6 sq ft of usable space

  • Do not stack flour and meals higher than 20 layers

  • Do not stack whole grains higher than 30-40 layers

  • Do not stack fiberboard cases of oil tins higher than eight layers

  • Bags should be stacked in basic patterns

  • Standard stack size is 30 ft x 20 ft

  • 2.5 ft alleyways around the stacks

  • 4 feet haulage at door side for operational purposes

  • Space of at least 1 MTR between tops of stacks and roof frames

  • One layer put lengthwise

  • Second layer arranges breadth wise

  • Six blocks form the standard stack size of 30x20
